When we speak talk about our “ecological footprint”, we aim to minimize it.  But you Mike have the biggest positive ecological footprint of anyone I’ve ever met.  Each year, you take thousands and thousands of pounds of food headed for the garbage, and turn it into organic compost — gold for the garden. And you teach countless others to do the same.  You gather and collect resources — from scrap wood to burlap to bushels — and then give this freely to whomever can make use of it.  You bike everywhere, eliminating from your life one of the greatest environmental offenders — the car.  And you do all this — compost, bike, etc — whether it is 30 degrees above zero, or 30 degrees below.  You have taught me about composting, sharing, and humility.  Here’s to you Mike Nevin — for redefining how we assess our ecological footprint.
